- Consider your task(s)
-
Are you using magnification for a single task and/or do you only need a lower amount of magnification power?
- If you only need magnification for one task such as reading, or you do not require much magnification power (2X) for all tasks, a fixed lens may be the right fit for you.
-
Are you using magnification for multiple tasks and/or do you need a higher amount of magnification power?
- When faced with tasks that require different working distances, such as reading and sewing, you may want a variable lens combo. This allows you to swivel between a single lens or stacked lenses providing variable magnification between 2X and 4X.

- Consider your vision needs

You may already know the magnification power you need based on your life experience or current prescription. Use our chart below to select your preferred BigEye lens!

- Consider your needed viewing area
-
For example, the 7” lens is fantastic for reading or using cookbooks because you can fit more words under the lens, requiring less movement of the book or magnifier. (Note: Due to the weight of this lens, it is not available on some of our lamps).
- By contrast, when working with fine details, a smaller lens with more magnification power is a better choice.
- Keep in mind that as the power of the lens increases, the diameter of the lens decreases. Higher-powered lenses are smaller than lower-powered lenses.
